Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Program
In April 2010 I had heart bypass surgery. Due to complications following surgery I was left a paraplegic. I spent 2 months in an Orlando, Fl hospital rehab facility. The therapy made it possible for me to return home. I soon realized I needed more therapy and spent a month at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Ga. Returning from Atlanta I still had very little upper body strength and minimal core strength. I began looking for something more and I found Neuroxcel. After meeting the staff and viewing the equipment I felt sure Neuroxcel could help me accomplish any goals I set for myself to the best of my ability.
After working at Neuroxcel for a few months I have developed the strength in my upper body that allows me to do the simple things in life. Such as transferring to my car, to my lounge chair lifting myself in and out bed with minimal help and being able to move about in my wheelchair with ease.
I am now working on my balance and leg strength to gain as much movement as possible. My goal is to walk if only minimally. Today, I have taken my first steps!
With the help of a compassionate and caring staff, plus my hard work, I know I will go home with the confidence and independence I need to lead a full and productive life.
