Medical Industry Continues to Embrace Simulated Environment Concepts' Technology

MIAMI, July 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Simulated Environment Concepts (Pink Sheets:SMEV.pk - News), the manufacturer and developer of medical, aesthetic, weight loss, wellness, and slimming equipment, announced today that its flagship product, the SpaCapsule, has been incorporated into Neuroxcel's Comprehensive Activity-Based Strength Training program (C.A.S.T.) to assist with the rehabilitation of patients who have experienced Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), Strokes or other neurological disorders.
Dr. Ella Frenkel, President, CEO and Co-Founder of Simulated Environment Concepts (SE Concepts) stated, "This is just another testament to the dynamic properties of the SpaCapsule and the spectacular growth potential of our company. For our technology to prove invaluable in such a tedious and sensitive therapy, speaks volume to the dedication our team has committed to the development of this product; ultimately for the overall health and well being of others."
SE Concepts covered the particulars of this announcement yesterday in the late afternoon on its corporate blog (www.spacapsule.wordpress.com). This announcement furthers management's contention [in prior release] that they had seen a trending surge in the medical use of the SpaCapsule globally as more physicians and health professionals seem interested in incorporating the equipment into rehabilitation and other physical therapy practices. Neuroxcel, a unique state-of-the-art strength training facility offering various levels of specialized neuro-recovery therapy to patients suffering from various forms of spinal cord injury, utilizes robotic gait strengthening, repetitive treadmill stepping, weight bearing, and among other things, the SpaCapsule – as part of the C.A.S.T. program.
Dr. Ilya Spivak, Marketing Director and Co-Founder of SE Concepts stated, "The continued embrace from the medical community further substantiates that a portion of our ultimate value will likely come from our being partially identified as a healthcare stock. These types of companies are generally considered recession proof. Which if we fell into this category, it could partly be the reason we've been in continued operation for over 10 years. However, regardless of sector, there is no doubt in my mind that wherever in the world there is a person who has pain, wishes to lose weight or simply wants to relax, the SpaCapsule will soon be available at a location near them."

The Medical Appliances & Equipment Industry (a segment of the healthcare industry), under which SE Concepts could be categorized, currently has a market cap of over $900 billion. Yet, with all of the vertical markets the SpaCapsule enjoys (Physical Therapy, Weight Loss, Fitness, Massage Therapy Franchises, Corporate Relaxation, etc.), the potential of its sector classification would seem to be but a small part of SE Concepts' bigger story.

NeuroXcel’s genesis was the result of an accident suffered by Thomas’ brother, Kevin. In Oct. 2003 while swimming off the shores in Boca Raton, Kevin caught a wave and hit something which resulted in damaging his fifth cervical vertebrae and causing paralysis from the shoulders down. Kevin endured more than nine months in traditional rehabilitation/hospital settings, while the Mullin family moved Kevin from facility to facility to offer a multi-faceted approach to his weakening muscles. The events lead the Mullin brothers to embark on a quest to build a comprehensive strength training facility which would serve people who had suffered similar neurological injuries and disorders.

By Keith Landry

There are exciting new developments in spinal cord injury (SCI) therapies that include repetitive treadmill stepping, gait strengthening and weight bearing. They are offering new hope for individuals with SCI in South Florida .
Neuroxcel, based in North Palm Beach , now offers clients an innovative Comprehensive, Activity-based Strength Training program, known as C.A.S.T. While Neuroxcel does not cure individuals with SCI, clients work with skilled trainers and the best equipment in Neuroxcel's state-of-the-art facility, following the C.A.S.T. regimen.
Neuroxcel clients strengthen their entire body as they prepare for recovery and independence through the C.A.S.T. program that helps them:

Maintain physical readiness for neural recovery with individualized activity-based training programs

Stimulate neural tracts within the spinal cord that have been spared injury and promote neuromuscular recovery

Improve sensory and motor function and increase self-reliance

Enhance lifelong health and wellness

While many spinal cord injured individuals are in their teens and twenties, the average age of a person with SCI is 40.9 years of age. And, 99 percent of all SCIs will result in some degree of paralysis.
A study by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation finds nearly 1 in 50 people live with SCIs, or approximately 6 million people. That’s greater than the combined populations of Los Angeles , Philadelphia , and Washington , D.C. The number of people struggling with the debilitating effects of spinal cord injury, mobility impairment, stroke and paralysis is nearly 33% higher than previous estimates showed.
With people living longer and staying more active, the number is expected to continue climbing. Unfortunately, these patients are finding few options available to them. Each year, thousands of newly-disabled people will be seeking ways to optimize their recovery and rehabilitation process.
Inspired by the late actor Christopher Reeve, patients are refusing to accept a “no hope” diagnosis. They are searching for comprehensive neurological facilities that employ a multi-faceted approach to their rehabilitation programs.
Neuroxcel is based in North Palm Beach in South Florida . It fills this role by providing individuals with SCI a road to functionality, independence, strength and recovery of lost abilities.
Like the scientific community, Neuroxcel believes there is a very real possibility that a full cure for spinal cord injury and mobility disorders can be found within our lifetime. Because of this belief, Neuroxcel is committed to duplicating its South Florida center and to building a nationwide network of neurological facilities for delivery of C.A.S.T. restorative training and research and development.

Two Local Brothers Determined To Help Folks Rewire Their Lives

Walk into Neuroxcel® Gym facility as I did one random day and you will be blown away how special this place is. Picture a world where doing the most regular chores are as challenging as climbing Mt. Everest, and you will find people of all ages with spinal cord injuries doing the impossible. Within minutes from walking through the double doors at NeuroXcel on Northlake Boulevard, you will discover a world that is determined to regain their independence by focusing on a promising philosophy that everyone can strive to recover partially or fully from their spinal cord injury with a program known as Comprehensive Activity-based Strength Training™ or C.A.S.T® program.
NeuroXcel’s® Comprehensive Activity-based Strength Training (C.A.S.T®) program helps individuals manage and improve their body conditions, tone seldom-used muscles and decrease secondary complications that typically occur among people with a spinal cord injury (SCI) or stroke. Ultimately the C.A.S.T® program helps individuals reach maximum levels of functionality, independence and regain as much lost capability as possible through repetitive activity-based training.
In the past, the medical community believed the body would never be able to rebuild the movement patterns or motor skills, making the disability permanent. As you walk around the gym, you get the feeling that not only is this no ordinary gym; it’s every bit as ordinary as a regular gym just with million dollar space-age equipment. You will find young kids trash talking about their next goal to beat their fellow gym buddy on the different stations or someone watching the Today Show on television. Did I mention there’s a gym dog too! It’s a family style atmosphere with two of the founding partners in this extraordinary business venture being two bold Brothers bound and determined to change the status quo when it comes to standard rehabilitation for spinal cord injuries or neurological disorders.

Who is defying the norm and breaking the mold on how to best improve the lives of the paralyzed?
A new facility named Neuroxcel® located in North Palm Beach, FL, are revolutionizing the field of independence and recovery for the paralyzed. The results are nothing short of amazing as they bring function and mobility back to muscles said to never be able to be used again.
One of its clients, Kevin M. was hit by a wave at 24 years old and became quadriplegic. He was given only 3 years to live under the current health care system and using current methods. He’s now 30 years old and with the help of the team at Neuroxcel®, they are defying the system in more ways than one.
On a recent visit to the facility I learned in the last few years Neuroxcel® management has researched the globe for the best advancements in equipment, met with some of the best doctors and learned almost every aspect of spinal cord injury and other neurological disorders.
“Neuroxcel® is dedicated to helping disabled individuals have the opportunity to recover peak independence and functionality so that they may live as normal a life again as possible”, said Thomas of Neuroxcel®. “So far the results have been amazing and we’ve learned to do it by using our comprehensive program.”
Through their research, the Neuroxcel® team has found the best training practices available and pulled all their knowledge and resources together to build a comprehensive activity-based strength training program (known as the C.A.S.T® program) which is now done in a state-of-the-art training facility. Yes, I said “training”.
Among a large line up of some of the best mobility delivery systems in the world, Neuroxcel® is designed to help their clients achieve maximum independence and functionality using various forms of cutting-edge equipment. Some of the equipment includes weight-bearing systems, gait training, vibration technology, upper body ergometer and some other unique devices. The core philosophy behind NeuroXcel’s C.A.S.T® program is that everything involves movement and activity-based training.
With this philosophy in mind, came their newest addition, the Vortex PRO-TRAINER. It filled a final training void, a 3-D approach to delivering resistance training fast and easily to the human body. Because of its unique design allowing its special brand of 360-degree movement, they are already seeing great results from the Vortex PRO-TRAINER in only 3 weeks.
"I watched as Kevin and Evan, Director of the facility, perform chest flies, immediately followed by core rotations, then pulls and triceps work from multiple angles, all within minutes," continued Thomas. “We can get more work done from any angle in the shortest amount of time. There is almost no adjusting needed for the unit, and no time wasted on setting up for new movements and exercises. All the handles are right where you need them and I can stand right there with Kevin inside the unit to assist him through the real-world movement patterns he needs to develop strength for his specific needs and to get those muscles firing again."
It took only 3 weeks for Kevin to go from a highly unstable movement pattern of chest flies to ones with almost complete control,” said Evan. "The Neuroxcel® team liked that it also took up a very small amount of space and it all can be done on one unit."
Kevin’s infectious smile, laughter and story of success and the fact that the Neuroxcel® team only wants to share it with the world to help others like him made an impression on me unlike any other in my life. I am proud to say we are now a part of something extraordinary that can only help people better their lives. Thank you to the Neuroxcel® team for bringing all this to reality.
